Wordsmith Wednesday
it’s time for this weeks’ installment of wordsmith wednesday challenge.
what exactly is wordsmith wednesday, you ask? it’s a chance for you to come up with a word that will, in turn, be put on to a loverly little recycled notebook. the books above were from previous winners. they also happen to be geniuses. just saying.
what’s in it for you? the chance to be clever, snarky, witty, thoughtful, sweet, or funny. and if your word gets picked for the week, i will send you you’re very own copy. for free. as in, i’m giving it away.
there are no other rules. no other limitations. it could be holiday related, or not. it could be a comment on how the stillers sucked it up this week against the ‘nati, or not. it could be one word, or many. it could be made up, or real. it’s up to you.
and if you need some ideas to get you started, you can check out my flickr page or etsy shop. better yet, check out the previous giveaways {here, here, here, here, and here}.
oh, and in case you are an overachiever and have more than one word or idea, why not submit them all? you can enter as many times as you like, with as many words as you like.
yeah, it’s that kind of contest.
and now for the official sounding mumbo-jumbo:
the contest begins on wednesday of every week, and will end the following tuesday at midnight ET. meaning, this week the contest starts today, november 18th and ends on tuesday, november 25th at midnight ET. capiche?

mongrel – I mean with all the different kinds and colors of paper in each notebook it’s rather fitting, not to mention that it’s all still paper coming from the same source…so rather ironic.
Nightmare Chronicles
My DS is writing a series of stories. He is the Boy with All the Notebooks. If I win, I will give the book to him for his next story. So it’s only fitting that it would have the series title on it.

1. answers (I’m sticking with that one, they may not be the correct answers, but they’re mine.)
2. lingua obscura

My best word at the moment: Nunya
Be strong

pistachio
It’s a pretty word with very strange spelling.
Btw, this is apparently web font week. No word on when handmade book cover font week is will be. You may have to declare that yourself.
1. Sirens
2. Rugby
3. Gazebo
Sparkle.
Because we all need sparkle and we all DO sparkle, at some time. Sparkle is such an odd word, but evokes such gorgeous visions.
So yes, Sparkle.
lagniappe – a bit extra – like that is how we do it in Louisiana
quiescient – resting – we do that here too – a lot – it is hot down here and you need to rest to have strength.
asserverate – affirm, declare positively, earnestly – hey, we do that down here too – like when you have a mess of crayfish
forfend – prohibit – we don’t forfend much in Louisiana
fungible -changeable – when we cook we are certainly fungible if we don’t have what is called for in the house. Probably why our cooking is some of the best in the world.
carapace – like the shell on our seafood
I think I need to go and find some grub since most of these words seem to be about either eating or preparing vitals.
Have a great week. I like your “game”.
Now THIS looks like a helluva good time and after this week I could use a good time.
How about:
orgasmatron
thunderpants
a whole lotta booyah
a whole buncha booyah
buncha ( I like the sound of that)
yinzamatic
gigglepants
orgasmatron aside, these are all names I use at night when I give my kids a bath. I make up stories for them.
