Green Door Giveaway
not sure if anyone was a fan of the old game show “let’s make a deal“. audience members had to pick what was behind door number 1, door number 2 or door number 3. i always used to hold my breath and wait for the treasures [or zonks] to be revealed.
i’m sure you’re wondering: what on earth does this have to do with the green door giveaway? don’t worry. i am not that cruel. i won’t make you sign up for something without telling you what it is first. but. that does give me an idea for a future giveaway [insert evil laugh here].
no no. i am much more simple than that. this is strictly about doors. and the mysteries and treasures that lay behind them. which is exactly what the item up for grabs today stirs within me. the endless wonders and possibilities. the striking beauty in the everyday. the allure of pealing paint.
so. without further ado. i present to you the green door by heather of wanderlust designs photography.
the print measures 5×7 inches (12.7 x 17.78 cm) and will come with a black matte that is sized to 8×10 inches (20.32 x 25.4 cm). the photograph is printed on archival photo paper with archival inks at a professional photo lab. ie – it is NOT an inkjet copy!
and in case you want to know where heather found such a door…it is part of president james garfield’s monument in lake view cemetery in cleveland, ohio.
when asked about her photography, heather had this to say:
i love to photograph anything unusual or unique. it allows me to share my world with others.
and because you needed to know. here is where heather’s inspiration comes from:
i love anything that makes me smile, is visual, makes me look twice, or catches my eye. i love vibrant colors and unusual sights. photography for me is the representation of the world around me. it is a visual statement of my place in the world.
just in case you wanted to see more of heather’s work [i know, i am a mind reader], feel free to visit her shop or her flickr.
*in order to enter the green door giveaway, you must leave a comment with what you think is behind the green door. i will not accept any entries without it.*
same rules apply as always. one entry per person. giveaway ends april 3 at midnight ET. winner is announced april 4th. you can also check prizey winners for information on who won.

Oh, I adore the print, it would be an honor to hang it in my house. The color is just gorgeous!
Well, if you open the door, you enter into a mystical fairy-tale land. The air is warm, light, everybody feels happy! I actually wish I had a small version of this door to hang on the wall, it gives me happy feelings. Thanks for the great give away!
Goats…I don’t know why, but I’d love to open the door and see a sea of goats. Maybe the door reminds of Pan’s Labyrinth and that is taking be to goats because of the Faun, which looks somewhat like a goat…
I would hope that there would be a car behind the door, I just love it on the price is right when they yell a new caaaaaaaaaaaar….!!
Love the picture, great giveaway!
Ah…the secret garden!
I don’t think it’s a door. I think it’s a gate into a private garden connected to a romantic, airy bedroom.
I imagine once I found the large bronze key and inserted in the keyhole I would enter into a sanctuary of peace with low light, pleasant smells of incense and utter calmness. There would be only one chair and it would be in front of a window looking out at such beauty the mind could not imagine. There I would rest and think of my blessings. Have a good day. Martha W.

Some kind of secret place like a garden or another world. I imagine that only I have the key to unlock this secret, magical world. Love the picture…
would love to win it. Thanks!t
I love this print, its absolutely beautiful and quite intreging. I imagine that behind that green door is a beautiful home, filled with laughter and smiles from little children playing with all their wonderful toys and puppies.
A happy place for people to rest after they have past away on to another place. At least that’s what I am hoping for.
I imagine that behind the door this is a sandy beach with with beautiful blue water and on the beach ther is a family enjoying a picnic with one another.
Hello, Quite a beautiful photograph. I like pictures of doors, barns and old sheds. Garfield’s Monument is lovely. If I were to open this magical door, there would be a huge, lovely forest with a time machine in the middle of it. I could go forward in time and view hopefully new cures for illness and back in time to see how people truly lived. Cindi
maybe there is a secret garden behind it? great giveaway, thanks!
very nice.
I agree, a flower garden must be behind the door!
There is a wall behind it…I imagine that it is an antique door being used as a piece of art!
I bet there’s a whole lot of love behind that door (LOL)
um….. 2 headed dogs? pandoras box?
A secret garden.
hmmm… I think it is a door to a lovely old home!
A Secret English like garden that kids can run around on with plenty of vines and hidey holes!

A sexy guy lying on a bearskin rug!
I adore that print! It would look so nice on my wall…
A monkey wearing a pink beret holding a tray of cocktails. And I bet he’d be a good dancer.
I believe behind the green door is a field of wildflowers that are gently swaying in the wind.
The green door opens into a garden resplendent with stargazer, liatris and hemerocallis.
I think there is a quiet little nook with a big comfy wicker chair, a stack of books on a table, and crisp cold water with lemon.

Since it is at a monument, I’m picturing an old house that used to hold warm family moments, laughter, and family togetherness.
I was going to leave a real guess and say that I think it leads to his actual burial place, but then I read these other responses and figured that was too, um, realistic of a guess. Sorry, that’s just me I suppose.
Thanks for the entry!
i think heather is very talented and i love her very much
she has amazing prints so check her out!
That is really a beautiful print.
Its locked so i think it is something someone wants to keep safe or hidden.
I see in my mind a family gathering behind the door. Lots of talking, laughing, and being together going on!
Well behind the green door is probably a brewery! Yep, that sounds about right.
Its a house of ill repute

Behind the Green Door my best friend waits.
I think it is a secret library full of wonderful books.
wow…I imagine something a lot darker than what’s listed here…I see a man trapped alone just staring at the door waiting for it to be opened
I think behind the door is a huge party room with loads of cakes and pastries where you’re happy all the time.
Behind the Green Door… lies the wall in my husband’s office.
A quiet little place with a bench and lots of beautiful flowers where one can sit and meditate.
Well I smell food behind that door, its a table with a good fat steak on it ready for me to eat!
A magical garden where the fairies live.
I love this picture. I think there is a French café behind the door…mmmmm espresso…
Behind the door??… They have hidden the secrets of the JFK assassination behind it…
COME ON! It has to be somewhere… this is a really good place for it.
I think that is the door to a library. Whenever someone tells a child a story—doesn’t read it, just tells it—the story becomes a book that is kept in that library. So if you have stories your mother told you floating around in your head, don’t worry, they won’t be forgotten. They are locked away safely behind that door!
A courtyard in the French Quarter
There are definitely old, interesting-looking gardening tools and a puppy sleeping in a sunny spot behind that door.

I think it’s a vintage boutique behind that door.
A great restaurant waiting serve me a fine dinner.

I think there’s a beautiful old run-down courtyard in the French Quarter behind this door. I would love to have this.

A house filled with magical artifacts!
I think there’s a hot bowl of stew and a wooden spoon—a traveler’s rest!
I loved that show!
Heather’s photograph is superb. I’d be honored to display it.
)
(plus, it matches the trim in my living room
Lovely shot, and intriguing. Older doors like that have a certain romance, like opening them will yield some wonderful room full of dusty treasures – old dresses, fading pictures of serious people, wooden toys with painting flaking off.
trolls. definitely trolls.
Behind the green door, is a small room long forgotten. It is perhaps in an old abandoned castle, for the walls are made of block stone, which have begun to crumble leaving a fine gray dust upon the bare stone floor. There is a single window, directly across from the door. It is covered with wooden shutters that are faded and cracked, allowing in thin rays of sunlight. I can see the dust motes I have stirred sparkling and dancing in those rays of light. Otherwise, the room is empty, but perhaps full of memories and things which I can not see. Beautiful photograph, thanks for the giveaway!
A country cottage
Very neat looking!
I can see the door swinging open to reveal a quiet prayer chapel with soaring ceiling and candles everywhere.
this is an idea of a country cottage
I THINK WHEN I FIND THE KEY I WOULD NEVER DO WITH OUT AGAIN
I think you’ll find a secret society of paranormals behind that door.
The door looks like it belongs to someone old who has lived there a very long time. I expect to see a grandmother with a shawl sitting in a rocker and knitting something behind the door.
When the door opens, which is does just as you approach it, you perceive deep darkness. But beyond the darkness there is a faint light, like the glow of a candle. In the flicker of the candle’s light, and barely discernable, you see the stooped figure of an ancient and tiny old woman with strings of hair waving in the barely-there breeze you have allowed to enter her domain. She beckons and calls with an amazingly young and sweet voice.
i think there are photographs behind the door
I believe when you open the door, you’ll be wrapped in the salty smeall of the sea, and when you look up, it’ll be the most beautiful day on the beach! What a dream! Thanks for offering such a great prize!
What a great painting!!!!!!!!!!!

I’d love to think it would lead to a lush secret garden. Great giveaway! Count me in. bebemiqui82(at)yahoo(dot)com
the Emerald City…….
Hm, I’m going to have to guess Garfield’s tomb.
To me it looks like a door on a very old shed.
This is a wonderful Fine Art Photograph! I think behind the door is a private path that leads down to the Lake.
It’s a beautiful photograph. I believe that my future just may be behind that door.
Awesome photograph! Who knows what mysteries are behind the green door.
I think there is a stairway leading down to a hot spring.
I see the entranceway to a grand old ballroom that has not been used since a Strauss waltz was scandalous.
I think there is a garden.
maybe a passage way to a hidden cave with Frankenstein in it
This image reminds me of a door I once saw on an old, abandoned shack out in the woods. A long time ago, one of the local farmers used the shack to dry and cure tobacco. Today, though, the shack is mainly used by homeless people. So, behind this door I see an old man huddled in the corner to conserve warmth under some stained, moldy, newspapers from 1983.
I picture a garden, it reminds me of the Secret Garden movie
Behind the door is the crypt and memorial for Garfield and his family. I really like some of the other answers & if I were guessing instead of knowing, I’d say it was a gate to a lovely Tuscan garden. Thanks for hosting!
my house is on the other side of this door!
Oh the other side of that door. How I’d love to know for sure.
I sit here peeking through the keyhole only catching glimpses of items. A worn old key laying on the table far across the room. I can only hope it isn’t the one and only key that unlocks this door. The table itself is ornate, with a warm brown tone, perhaps oak, of its make up I cannot be sure, all I can see is the intricate details that I would so love to run my finger across.
I can see a soft light coming through a window, and I’m just sure its covered in a lace curtain as there is a small pattern to the shadows. From the other side of the table though there is darkness.
What that means I cannot tell, as I have yet to open this door, I do fear though that it is life or death, as only such a door could hold. What I do know is that upon opening the door there would have to be a choice made. At least if I should close the door behind me or not. ^-~
At first I thought the print was of Let’s Make a Deal, but the real print is a lot prettier. What a beautiful piece of art!
I know what’s back there! John Mayer, with his guitar, waiting to sing a song he wrote about me *grins*
like the colors
I think there is a artists workshop
behind the green door.Thanks

behind the green door is a secret room in the attic
I think it leads to an observation deck..perhaps via way of stairs
I think it’s a gardening shed!
There is a handsome man behind the door.
It reminds a keyhole conducting in a closet…
Behind the green door? The g rated version is a lovely garden that makes a sickly girl well. The X rated version is something else.
I do believe you found it in a cemetary!
This must must be a gate to a very wise & wild garden…it’s too pretty to be a tomb.

Heather has a great eye for detail and sim[plicity.
It’s pretty much a must have, as it has over 1400 brands, plus the how’s and why’s of the collectible instrumental market (it also has amplifiers and related equipment). I spotted a stunning Vintage Bass Guitar in there recently!

Life…perfectly imperfect, just like the door…the flaws in the paint…the scratches on the left hand underside of the lock showing use…life is on the other side of the door.
