The Jewelry Type Giveaway
’tis monday. which means it’s time for another crafty giveaway. and just because i can, i am going to start doing not one but two giveaways a week. and i have some amazing things lined up for you, so stay tuned. in fact, why not just subscribe to the blog, so you will always know what’s going on. you know, be kept in the loop.
anywho. this weeks giveaway comes from our very first return crafter. that’s right. elizabeth from KeysandMemories has been featured before. way back in october, and featured a super cool tie tack. this time around, we have a little something for the ladies.
this bracelet is made from black keys from a few different typewriter machines. they are celluloid and can get wet.
each key is appx 1/2″ or 15mm in size.
the bracelet includes all the number keys found on the machine and in the order they are laid out on the keyboard plus two function keys.
other facts: the bracelet is a solid silver tone disc and loop form appx 7.5” ( 19.1 cm ) in length with a foldover clasp. all items are made from vintage keys from the early 20th century and are never replicated.
now, you are likely wondering how one gets into making jewelry with typewriter keys. and this is what elizabeth had to say:
I stumbled on the typewriter key jewelry and was hooked. I love working with old stuff. My tastes run from vintage to eclectic and anything in between. I enjoy finding new uses for old objects and creating themed jewelry.

The typewriters I learned on were not quite as vintage as the ones these keys came from, but they weren’t far off. I really love everything on the site! I found the vintage watch movement pins, especially the Eglin watch movement brooch, particularly beautiful. Imagine, these are the parts that were hidden away in a working watch! I like the Scrabble piece necklace, too — I’m a Scrabble addict!

The jewelry at Keys and Memories is so unique and ultra cool! I used to know this lady who made jewelry out of old antique buttons and some of the pieces I saw today at Keys and Memories reminded me of the button jewelry! My favorite piece is the Rectangular Vintage Watch Movement Necklace! It is made from an old Bulova watch and the piece is so unusual and most definitely one of a kind! I also really think the bracelet that is part of this giveaway is really chic and definitely a conversation starter!
