  • bought a groupon for yoga on the square for a 30-day pass of unlimited yoga! {#15}. i even bought a yoga matt in preparation for the class!!
  • signed up for a meditation class and a pilates class through FCAAE {#12}
  • regularly writing down things that i’m grateful for the gratitude jar {#4}

and am planning to do soon {as in next month}:

  • made plans to spend a fun weekend with my mom {#23} and see a broadway show on broadway {#26}.
  • booked a trip to visit my girls in seattle {#6}

it feels really good to be working on the things on my list. i am having a lot of fun with it! as in a lot.

i know i’m a tad late on this one, but i have good reason. i’ve been busy. seriously. so busy that i haven’t had a chance to sit down and properly look over the entries.

thank you, as always, to everyone who took the time to come up with ideas, words, and just plain have fun with this one! there were so many fun ones {eat me, it’s the vittle things} and so many serious ones {sustenance, delish} that it was even harder than usual to make a decision.

but…a decision was made. and truth be known, it’s a word that i had thrown around initially. even made a mini-logo a few months ago. i’m still letting it simmer. but am beginning to think it’s going to stick.

so, what’s it going to be?! none other than: sustain. many thanks to karen for her plethora of entries.

i’m sure i’ll be posting updates about the new biz soon. i am officially done with my corporate job in six {six!!} days. and then am going on a much needed vacation to visit family and friends.

i’ll be back with a vengeance in march. promise!

until then, there may be some sporadic posting. but i make no promises. don’t want to, um…miss anything. or forget to post when i’m supposed to.

31 Things: The Farmers Market

#28. visit a farmers market

i’m probably a tad bit silly for wanting to go to a farmer’s market in the winter time considering there really aren’t too many things in season right now, let alone locally grown. but. the temptation was too great.

my pal laurzie [see, i spelled it right!] asked if i wanted to hit up the farmers market with her last weekend. and the curiosity of what would be there combined with the incessant need to check things off my list made it impossible to turn down.

my bounty of awesomeness from the market included: 1 butternut squash, 2 sweet potatoes, and 1 half-gallon of local apple cider. not too bad for a winter market. i was also tempted to get a bunch of sweet onions and some eggs, but we had both at home. and i wasn’t buying just to buy.

all in all, i had a great morning at the market. and look forward to going on a more regular basis.

Wordsmith Wednesday, Health Edition!

this week i’m going to request some help. in the form of a contest, of course.

i am trying to come up with a name for my holistic health counseling business. and i can’t seem to come up with anything amazing. this is where you come in. i need good words [as in wordsmith wednesday]!!

the entries this week should relate to health, nutrition, food, support, wellness, or holistic health in some way.

here is a link for an overview of what i’ll be doing. you are welcome to use it for ideas. or even to find out what in the h-e-doublehockeysticks i’m talking about.

for those that are new to the game, here’s a little background info:

what exactly is wordsmith wednesday, you ask? it’s a chance for you to come up with a word that will, in turn, be put on to a loverly little recycled notebook.

what’s in it for you? the chance to be clever, snarky, witty, thoughtful, sweet, or funny. and if your word gets picked for the week, i will send you you’re very own copy. for free. as in, i’m giving it away.

i’ll also be adding the winners to the etsy shop. so that other people can partake in your awesomeness.

just in case you are an overachiever and have more than one word or idea, why not submit them all? you can enter as many times as you like, with as many words as you like.yeah, it’s that kind of contest.

and now for the official sounding mumbo-jumbo:
the contest begins on wednesday of every week, and will end the following tuesday at midnight ET. meaning, this week the contest starts today, january 20th and ends on tuesday, january 26th at midnight ET.

got it?

let’s not prolong this one, shall we? i have some other good things to post about. like how much i’ve accomplished already on my 31 things to do list.

the winner of this week’s contest is none other than amanda from ulixis crafts. her winning entry is…

thanks again to everyone that entered. hope to see you back for the next round of the ever-popular wordsmith wednesday! and yes, it will be starting today.

i know. i know. i totally slacked with the wordsmithing this week. and yes, i am aware that it’s friday. i thought we addressed this already.

moving on.

this week’s contest will be a little shorter due to my, er…dumbassery. and while i feel for you, i know that you will rock the casbah this week.

no theme again this time around. just a whole lot of wordsmithing. with the freedom to be as snarky, profound, lovey-dovey or boring clever as you want to be.

for those that are new to the game, here’s a little background info:

what exactly is wordsmith wednesday, you ask? it’s a chance for you to come up with a word that will, in turn, be put on to a loverly little recycled notebook.

what’s in it for you? the chance to be clever, snarky, witty, thoughtful, sweet, or funny. and if your word gets picked for the week, i will send you you’re very own copy. for free. as in, i’m giving it away.

i’ll also be adding the winners to the etsy shop. so that other people can partake in your awesomeness.

there are no other rules. no other limitations. it could be a comment on what 2010 has in store, or not. it could be one word, or many. it could be made up, or real. it’s entirely up to you.

and if you need some ideas to get you started, you can check out my flickr page or etsy shop. better yet, check out the previous giveaways {here, here, here, here, and…oh you get the idea}.

and just in case you are an overachiever and have more than one word or idea, why not submit them all? you can enter as many times as you like, with as many words as you like.

yeah, it’s that kind of contest.

and now for the official sounding mumbo-jumbo:

i’m trying to ignore the fact that i was supposed to announce this week’s winner a few days ago. in fact, i am just going to pretend that today is wednesday and go about my business. yeah. that’s what i’m going to do.

[did it work?]

i have to say that this week’s contest has garnered so. many. amazing words that it’s just been fun to watch it progress. and all were fun for different reasons. some were snarky. some were playful. some were totally and wonderfully sweet. they were so good, in fact, that i just want to be in the studio making books.

like all contests, this one too must have a winner. but to be fair to all of the wonderful entries, i wanted to list a few that were extra fun [ie - the runner-up's]:

+  imbibery
+  remember
+  scribbles
+  contradict
+  FUBAR

but the word, the word of the week, has to go to colin for his little slice of heaven:

+ smartassery

i mean really, how good is that?!

thanks to everyone that entered. i’ll be starting the next wordsmith wednesday friday soon.
