Vintage Delight Giveaway

from time to time i like to play around with the title of the giveaways. my mind works in totally random ways, and it’s fun to try and come up with clever titles. and this week’s title is none of that. it’s the actual title of the item up for grabs. i mean, why mess with a good thing. right?

so, what is this vintage delight thing you are referring to? how about i show you. otherwise, it would be a little too hard to explain.

see. it really is a delight. the frame comes from LizzyJDesigns and has been adorned with colorful, old papers and sealed with non-toxic decoupage glue for a glossy finish. pretty vintage ladies, lace, paper posies, dresden trim, glass glitter, pearly leaf pins and other goodies adorn this gorgeous frame.

it also comes ready to display your most precious 3 x 3 photograph or tiny collage work and includes a wooden dowel, but you can also attach a hook and hang it on the wall.

i have to say that my favorite part of the frame is the pretty vintage lady on the bottom left corner. she looks so…dreamy. and by dreamy, i mean wistful. though, she is a pretty lady.

anywho. i was asking lizzy about herself and she was able to share this insight:

It’s simple, really.

Need for creative outlet + night owl + addiction to craft stores = LizzyJDesigns

I am always looking for new techniques and materials but always come back to my first love: paper. I started out designing cards, then on to wedding invitations. Decoupage projects are new to me. I love the detail involved in making a frame just right while having so much freedom with what goes on each piece. It’s a new addition to the shop and I hope you like it as much as I do!

we do! we do!

and because you know the interview never stops there, lizzy had this to say about where inspiration comes from:

Designing a new item is similar to the process I go through when I decide what to wear each day. Sometimes I feel fancy and other times I want to be playful and comfy. LizzyJDesigns is my closet of clothes for corespondence - the FASHIONISTA of correspondence!

and. i’m spent.

in order to win this gorg little frame, you must jump through the following hoops:

+ post here with your favorite item from LizzyJDesigns.

if you would like an additional chance to win…

+ blog about the giveaway
+ come back and post a second entry with the link to this post.

now that last bit is really important. i don’t always know that you are linking here. and if you don’t come back and leave the link, you don’t get the extra entry. and that is officially a bummer.

official jargon: contest ends on tuesday, october 7th at midnight ET. winner will be announced on wednesday, october 8th.

and yes, the valley girl accent was totally necessary.

Support the Cause Giveaway

i bet you are wondering what cause you should be supporting today. considering there are tons of causes out there. i promise that this one is more meaningful than the buymeanewpairofshoes cause. though, that one would still be rewarding. just not to as many people.

i also have to admit that i am pretty excited to be helping spread the word. and promoting a shop that is truly giving back to the community.

so, let’s get on with it. before you began to get…bored. today’s giveaway comes from the lovely janna of jaC jewelry. she has been kind enough to donate a gorgeous pair of earrings for your giveaway pleasure.

behold the white pearl, silver and swarovski crystal earrings. these dainty earrings are made with blue, yellow and clear swarovski crystals attached to sterling silver chain, and accented with white coin freshwater pearls.  they will go with the dressiest of outfits as well as a pair of jeans and a tank top. really, they will. and just in case you need to know, the earrings are 2″ top to bottom (1.5″ without the ear wires).

when asked to tell us a little more about herself, janna provided the following:

I make fun, customized, and one-of-a-kind jewelry using gems and semi-precious stones, freshwater pearls, sterling silver, and gold-plated and brass findings.  I also create custom bridal jewelry.

One of my objectives is to create versatile designs that people are able to wear with multiple outfits, styles and occasions.  Specifically with bridal designs, my goal is to create versatile pieces that the bridal party will be able to wear long after the wedding. [who doesn't love that?!]

and because i always love to know where inspiration comes from, i asked!

As for where I get inspiration for my designs, nature is my biggest inspiration, although most of the time, I buy the beads and findings that I think are gorgeous, without any idea for a design in mind.  Combining several colors is as far as I will go when coming up with ideas.  Then, I put them together and discover that the most unexpected combinations look the best together!

but, that’s not the best part! because october is breast cancer awareness month, janna is donating a portion of all october proceeds to a charity supporting breast cancer research. if you don’t believe me, you can take a look at her shop announcement [i mean, you have to visit her shop anyway!!]. this is what it says:

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month.  I have added pink and breast cancer-themed jewelry to the section titled P I N K for the C U R E.  I will donate a portion of all October sales (not just pink jewelry) to a charity supporting breast cancer research.

ok. on to the official boringness that is the rules. i mean, you do want to win the earrings, right?

+ post here with your favorite item from jaC jewelry.

now that last bit is really important. i don’t always know that you are linking here. and if you don’t come back and leave the link, you don’t get the extra entry. and that is officially a bummer.

for those that were eagerly awaiting the newest of the giveaways, i apologize. the day got away from me. my days are filled with the boring task of putting together trainings, making phone calls and other mundane tasks. which leaves very little time for posting fun giveaways…

what can you do?

i guess you’ll just have to be patient. you can also check out other giveaways on the prizey blog. there are tons to choose from. so, you won’t miss me too much.

G is for…Giveaway

there are a lot of things that the letter “G” stands for. including: good, great, grand, guru, girly, and gorgeous. my favorite though, is probably giveaway. and so long as we are talking giveaways, we have a great one up for grabs today.

meet george the giraffe.

he likes eating apples and playing softball. he also likes to be oggled and enjoyed by kids of all ages [including those who are more kids at heart than anything else].

george the giraffe is a high quality print of an original design by joanna goldman designs. the print is 8 x 10”  and will be watermark-free. that is, of course, if you win it. but, that’s not for a few more paragraphs. so hold your horses giraffe’s.

joanna, george’s creator, hails from Montreal, Canada where she

specializes in creating cute characters. i then put these characters on all kinds of things like light switch covers, prints, pins, magnets, bags and clothing.

now, if you are curious like i am, you are probably wondering how joanna got her start:

i guess you could say that my love for drawing started from watching cartoons at a very young age. now, as an adult, i’m still watching cartoons! i draw inspiration from both moving and static images. i love shows such as powerpuff girls, dexter’s lab, and invader zim. some still images i absolutely love are retro 50s style illustrations. i really like artist like ragnar and josh agle.

i knew i loved her shop for a reason!

anywho. if you want to enter for your chance to win george the giraffe, you must jump through the following hoops:

+ post here with your favorite item from joanna goldman designs.

if you would like an additional chance to win…

+ blog about the giveaway
+ come back and post a second entry with the link to this post.

now that last bit is really important. i don’t always know that you are linking here. and if you don’t come back and leave the link, you don’t get the extra entry. and that is officially a bummer.

official jargon: contest ends on tuesday, september 30th at midnight ET. winner will be announced and posted on prizey.fetch on wednesday, october 1st.

celebrities lend their name and fame to something worthwhile. it just makes me feel all, you know. warm and fuzzy inside. i came across these video’s on youtube. and wish there were more commercials like this on tv. and not just the internet.

just a warning, this is a pro-obama video. so, if you are a mccain-palin fan, i would advise you to skip it. unless, of course, you like watching celebrities. then, by all means. hit play.

yes we can:

we are the ones:

ok, political rant over.
