so, i saw this game on not one but two of my favorite blogs [paperkitty and cosymakes] and just had to take part. so here goes.

The concept:

a. Type your answer to each of the questions below into Flickr Search.
b. Using only the first page, pick an image.
c. Copy and paste each of the URLs for the images into fd’s mosaic maker.

The Questions:

1. What is your first name?
2. What is your favorite food?
3. What high school did you go to?
4. What is your favorite color?
5. Who is your celebrity crush?
6. Favorite drink?
7. Dream vacation?
8. Favorite dessert?
9. What you want to be when you grow up?
10. What do you love most in life?
11. One Word to describe you.
12. Your flickr name

and here is what i came up with:

1. Emily, 2. French Fries, 3. Shady Side, 4. Hot Pink, 5. Angelina Jolie, 6. Lime Mojito, 7. Florence, Italy, 8. Peanut Butter Cup Heart, 9. Crafter, 10. My Husband, 11. Sassy, 12. Subu

i. got. a haircut.

ok. i got them all cut. a lot. enough, in fact, to make a donation to locks of love. if you aren’t familiar, they require at least 10 inches to make a donation. i had that much. and, i love it. it’s super fun to play with. and will have lots of interesting style possibilities.

and yes, the post-wedding itch got the best of me. there is nothing like being forced [self-imposed, of course] to grow your hair long for a wedding to make you want to cut it all off…and so, i did. and the color is next! oh yeah. highlights, here i come.

i have to say that the best part of this new do has been my hubby’s reaction. which is awesome. because i care what he thinks. and he thinks it’s hot. er. i mean, hawt.

so, in honor of the new haircut, i want to see what celeb i look like [courtesy of myheritage.com]…and, drum roll please….the winning celebs are:

lol. it always cracks me up. particularly when they throw in men. they said i was a strong match to clive owens. um. i don’t see it. but…someone does.

that’s all i had to tell you. happy hump day.

is it me, or are my post titles getting lamer by the minute?! actually. don’t answer that. it’s not important.

what is important. is the fact that i just uploaded several new recycled notebooks into my shop. now, these aren’t just any recycled notebooks. they are recycled notebooks with sass. seriously. for example:

if you look closely, you will see that we have a a weird guy with a hose, an evil-looking nun [is that an oxymoron?], and a toaster oven.

in this section we have a flirt, a hawt one, and a genius. can’t get much better than that!

i have been trying to add a little more flare and humor into my little books. and it helps to have found someone that collected the most random stamps on the planet. [you did see the toaster oven, right?]

but that’s not the best one. now, i know you are asking, how do you beat the evil looking nun? or the weird guy, who potentially isn’t a guy, with a hose? this is how: you go presidential. but not just any president. one that induced an incredible amount of scandal in his time. cigar anyone?

yep. that’s right. it’s none other than bill clinton! pre-surgery of course. he does look a little…er…full in the face.

and because no self-promoting post is complete without a little plug for the shop: all are currently listed for a mere $6 each. but. if two whole books catch your eye. you are in for a treat. because you save $2. that’s right. two books for $10. wow.

ok. that’s enough shameless self-promoting for today. if you have any good ideas for words, comment away! i am always looking for other phrases or words that are sassy, though not vulgar. anyone can drop the f-bomb. it takes skill to be sassy. at least, that’s what i keep telling myself…

happy tuesday!

beaded baubles giveaway

yep. i am officially back in the saddle and ready to offer up the first giveaway post-wedding! i don’t know who’s more excited. you or me. i mean. i am, afterall, a married woman now. and that’s pretty damn exciting.

what to know what’s more exciting? this weeks giveaway! no, seriously. it is. for you at least.

when carol, the talented creator behind beaded baubles, agreed to participate in our little giveaways i just about fell over. with excitement that is. her jewelery is just plain stunning. and was shocked that she would be willing to part with one her pieces.

say hello to the grace choker. it is a beautiful 15” sterling silver chainmaille choker with a sterling silver box clasp closure.

the edging features jet black drop beads for contrast. [note: the beads can be removed if you prefer the choker without them.]

now, if you are like me. you are probably wondering ho win the world someone gets interested in making chainmaille. though i supppose you could say the same about bookmaking. but, i digress.

back to carol. this is what she had to say when asked how she got started:

Since I was a little girl I’ve loved making things. I learned to crochet when I was about 10 and knitting and embroidery soon followed. A friend suggested I try beading and helped me pick out supplies to make a bracelet. I was hooked from that point on.

One day while surfing the web I saw a chainmaille bracelet with beads worked into the design. It was so intriguing that I had to learn to make chainmaille too. I found some tutorials online and taught myself. Making maille is what I enjoy doing most of all.

and about her inspiration:

I’m inspired by everything around me. Patterns in textiles, architecture, and nature often find their way into my designs. Textures and color also influence each piece. I would describe my style as classic with a modern twist.

if you still can’t get enough of beaded baubles, feel free to visit her website and blog.

now. at this point, i am guessing you want to know what you can do to win this gorgeous piece of silver. have no fear. the rules are here. [sorry. it's been a while. and apparently that makes me very cheese-tastic.]

you must jump through the following hoops to be considered:

+ visit beaded baubles.
+ post your favorite item in her shop

if you would like an additional chance to win…

+ blog about the giveaway
+ come back and post a second entry with the link to the post.

it’s that easy.

official jargon: contest ends on thursday, july 3 at midnight ET. winner will be announced and posted on prizey.fetch on friday, july 4th.

the hubby and i went to see wanted on friday night. our first date night since we got married. it [the movie and the date] was beyond awesome. the camera angles and special effects were totally off the charts.

and angelina jolie is just as hot as ever [if not more, actually]. definitely made the girl crush go into full effect.

there were so many moments where the hand went over my mouth to stifle it from saying damn. particularly when wesley got scooped up into angelina’s car here.

the rest of the weekend was spent doing crafty things. i shared a table with cosy knits literally at the i made it - south side edition. it was part of the south side celebrates 250 events and coincided with the bike race that came through pittsburgh yesterday. the weather was surprisingly great, considering it was supposed to rain all day long.

my goal for today is to update my shop and take some new pictures of items. and, as always, to craft away. haven’t really done much towards that goal. but…it’s in the works.

back to craft.

last night i had dinner with two of my favorite crafty ladies: carrie from zippull and i made it fame, and cosy of cosy knits literally. we went to a yummy taiwanese restaurant called the rose tea cafe. then we got rained on and had to tuck into barnes and noble to wait out the rain. sigh. it was fun to poke through the craft section. [what? you were expecting us to look at something else?!]

of course we talked about all things crafting. and it was much needed since i have been feeling super disconnected lately from the crafting world. so of course my mind is racing now with all of these wonderful ideas and i just can’t wait to start doing them!

it also got me thinking a little bit on how to spread the love and share this wonderful feeling [of community and creativity] with the rest of the world. or maybe just pittsburgh. any ideas? seriously. i would love to hear about ways you have reached others or spread the love so to speak.

i am quite willing to bribe you for answers as well. so, i will be picking a comment at random and sending a surprise gift. could be from me. could be something from another awesome crafter. who knows. you will just have to trust me.

i am beginning to feel slightly disconnected from the crafting world. not because i don’t want to be a part of it, but because i feel like that part of my life has been put on hold. oh well. nothing like diving right in to get back into the swing of things.

this past weekend was spent in the gorgeous city of portland, oregon. it was my first time there, and have to say that it was pretty cool. everything is green, orgranic or environmentally friendly. it was definitely fun to see.

did i mention we got to see drag queens? no bachelorette party is complete without attendance at a drag show. one of the girls performed “fancy” by reba mcentire. she was a dead ringer for reba. it was pretty impressive.

but the true star of the show was darcelle (caricature to the left). she is a 77 year old drag queen who has been performing like this for over 40 yrs. so. much. fun. my favorite part of darcelle was her fabulous (and i do mean fabulous) part of her wardrobe were these huge rhinestone eyebrows!! who knew that made eyebrows like that…

the bachelorette part in all our glory.

the best part of the trip was getting to see my friend get married. that was, afterall, the reason for being there. she looked beautiful and it was truly amazing to see her marry such a kind and loving person. they are definitely made for each other. and that makes me happy.

here’s looking at you kid. hope you have many many years decades of wedding bliss!
